The San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park extends from Aquatic Park to Hyde Street Pier where you can board four national landmark ships including the famous square-rigger Balclutha and the ferryboat Eureka with its classic car collection. The Park's Maritime Museum, at the foot of Polk Street, houses ship models, figureheads, paintings, photos and artifacts in a historic art deco building which resembles a cruise ship. Fisherman's Wharf is famous for its Italian seafood restaurants with waterfront views. Vendors along Jefferson Street sell Dungeness crab from steaming cauldrons and walkaway seafood cocktails. Since 1849, the Boudin family has baked the original San Francisco sourdough bread; clam chowder in a sourdough bowl is a signature San Francisco dish. |
